Presler (IK-7)

Z Drakaniaverse

Presler is as dumb as he looks.

Personality

Naive, kindhearted, friendly, a little rebellious, on rare occasions: capable of wisdom far beyond his age.

Abilities

  • Understands the basics of skinning animals, tailoring and some herb identification due to farm life.
  • Likes to hit things with a big stick.
  • Capable of some rudimentary magics with scrolls, preferring healing and water spells.

History

Presler in comparison had a much more simple upbringing. Raised on a farm a short ways from the city of Gotha, he lived a structured life working hard under his father's thumb with his three brothers and their mother. While he found his father's ex-military discipline overbearing, he quickly learned to keep his head down and out of trouble. Or at least as much trouble he could get away with. Presler's days of monotony were broken up only by the occasional visit from his uncle on his father's side, Marcus. Marcus was travelling missionary of sorts, spreading nuggets of wisdom of Adanos (on occasion, Innos, and even rarer, Beliar) to various cities around Myrtana. While, not an officially sanctioned water mage, Presler's uncle was quite capable in both water magic and combat, and it was likely he had some ties with the ring of water. Presler adored the man, and longed for the free life his uncle had carved for himself. Marcus, during his visits, taught the boy his worldly wisdom, how to read, humility and what little he could about combat. Marcus tried to steer Presler onto the path of Adanos, but Presler perceived most of his uncle's teachings as fanciful tales, although much of it still seeped into Presler's principles and ideology. Marcus spent more time with Presler than his three brothers, and it was largely rumoured that Marcus was a closer relation to Presler than mere "Uncle", as his mother was always quite friendly with Marcus. Although Presler has yet to catch on. It was no surprise then, once Presler came of age, he begged his uncle to take him away from the farming lifestyle, and in the dead of night, the two left Gotha behind forever. Marcus and Presler travelled much of Myrtana, visiting the various cities with Marcus showing Presler city life, as well as some basic survival skills for the wilderness. Their travels became much more urgent however once the orcs started to invade the country, and Marcus did his best to keep on the move, away from the orcish invasion. He soon came to realise though that the continent was not safe, and with what little money he was able to obtain, he sent Presler on the next ship to anywhere but Myrtana. This happened to be Khorinis. In spite of hoping to be free to forge his own path, Presler was almost immediately drafted into the king's service. Begrudgingly, Presler took to the role within the militia with surprising ease, thanks to his "father's" discipline. Once again Presler found himself longing for freedom. However, something is beginning to stir within him, a sense that he can become part of something greater in Khorinis. And part of him feels a connection to Adanos more clearly than he had ever felt before. As to what has happened to his uncle, Presler has no clue.
