Sandro is a tall, fairly well-built man. His long black hair hides no trace of gray, as does the thick bristles of several days covering his drawn, in places wrinkled face. He has silvery blue eyes, filled with pride and confidence. He has a few mementos in the form of scars he earned during his many duels. The scars can be seen mainly on his shoulders.

Personality

Sandro is mostly a kind person, but he has a slight tendency toward cynicism and sarcasm. Despite his detachment and sense of humor, he finds it difficult to make new friends, but tries to take care of the ones he already has. He is not a person who willingly meddles in major political conflicts, but this does not mean that they do not interest him at all. He likes to be up to date with everything. Although he tries to resolve disputes amicably, he has no reluctance to send his opponents to the realm of Beliar with his blade. de Livéraux is a man of honor. He tries to play out battles on a level playing field, so in clashes with a larger number of more challenging enemies, he secures his advantage using various dirty tricks. He speaks with a rather strange, barely noticeable, but nevertheless, accent. Not only can't he swim, Sandro is also panically afraid of water, a trait left over from his childhood. This shortcoming made a sea voyage to Khorinis quite a feat for Sandro.

Abilities

A man of agility and speed. His innate ability to move smoothly matched perfectly with the sword skills de Livéraux had acquired through years of training. Where he came from, Sandro was considered the island's best swordsman. This claim was borne out by the battles in which de Livéraux participated, from which he almost always emerged victorious. In addition to encounters on the beaten ground of the arena, Sandro sometimes uses improvised weapons such as stones or broken bottles in combat. He also knows how to shoot a crossbow, and has a residual familiarity with handling a ballista. In addition to developing his battle skills, Sandro has indulged in painting in his spare time, and has dabbled in winemaking. He can read and write, although the nature of his handwriting is almost illegible.

History

Sandro was born on a small island just east of Myrtana. He was fortunate to be born as a member of the de Livéraux family, which was a fairly prominent noble house in the principality. The family was on very good terms with the ruling family of the state - the Corentin family. Sandro was a peer of the young Viktor Corentin, heir to the title of duke, and his friend. They grew up and trained together. While the future duke was learning to manage the state, Sandro was developing his sword skills. His mother enrolled him in lessons with the island's best swordsmen, but he also greatly enjoyed training on his own - with guards, servants, or alone. His puppy years, however, did not pass only on fencing. Outside the training room, he was a regular, laughing kid, enjoying painting and spending time with friends and family. And his family, not counting cousins, uncles and other distant relatives, was not large. Sandro had a sister, Biara, with whom he was raised by his parents and hubby. He got along great with her and could not imagine life without her. But unfortunately, fate enabled him to find out what it was like to live without a sibling. Sandro and Biara enjoyed sailing on the lake near their family estate. During one such cruise, the boat was attacked by a drowning man. The giant reptile climbed onto their coracle, but was nonetheless quickly exterminated by the guard who accompanied them. When the monster received a blow with the mace in its forehead it wobbled and fell overboard, capsizing the boat. All three passengers fell into the water. Sandro, in the depths of the lake, fell into a huge panic. With the remaining air in his lungs, he tried to get to the surface, but was unable to. He frolicked in all directions, and everywhere he saw lizards circling around him. After a while, however, the boy felt someone grab him by the collar and pull him upward. It was the guard who had been with them during the voyage. By some miracle, they managed to get out of the lake without attracting the attention of the drowning men. But when they looked at the surface of the water from the shore, they understood why the beasts had let them go. The water had turned a blood-red color at one point. It was Biara's blood. Sandro could not recover from the incident for several months, and his panicky fear of water has remained with him to this day. However, once he came to terms with her death, his life returned to normal as such. He again studied, played and trained. When he reached the age of nineteen he participated in his first tournament, from which he emerged victorious. The same was true of the next few. After this series of victories, the then prince offered the young swordsman to join his personal guard. Sandro agreed and took up residence in the duke's palace as a guardsman. A few years later, when the title of duke was given to his friend Viktor, de Livéraux was appointed the duke's personal bodyguard, and some time later was given the position of Superintendent of the ducal guard for his faithful service. He was also the fencing instructor of Prince Viktor's children. However, one day, within just a few hours, Sandro lost everything he had, thanks to a court magician. The magician, wanted to get rid of the prince. According to the law, he would then take his place as chairman of the regency council, which would enable him to increase the influence of the magi in the sack. So a conspiracy was formed, in which many of the duke's opponents were initiated, including even servants and clerics. The conspirators decided to poison Viktor, framing the duchess and Sandro. The assassins wanted to make it look like there was an affair between Lord de Livéraux and the duchess, which was supposed to be the motive for the duke's assassination. This was not difficult, as the staff had very easy access to the chambers of both Sandro and Lady Corentin. And what followed was the fabrication of false evidence, such as vials of poison or false letters, and the tossing of them was no problem. The collaborators proceeded to take action. The duke was poisoned during one of his daily afternoon lunches. The guards immediately set about finding the perpetrators, or evidence. They found a phalcon of venom, of course, and letters indicating that de Livéraux and the Duchess were planning an attempt on Viktor's life. On top of this, the personae involved in the coup began to testify against the captain of the guard and the widowed Lady Corentin, which only sealed their fate. They were, of course, immediately captured and imprisoned in the dungeons. While Sandro was sitting in confinement, the initiator of the conspiracy visited him. He felt confident enough to taunt the swordsman by thanking him for his help. At the end of this brief visit, the mage ordered the cell guard to lead the former guardsman to the scaffold. The soldier saluted and, some time after the sorcerer had left the dungeon, approached the steel bars with the intention of opening them. When the keyman lowered his gaze to the bundle of keys, Sandro grabbed him by his tunic and slammed his head against the metal cell door several times, rendering him unconscious. He took his keys and left the prison. He still wanted to return his freedom to the Duchess, but it was too late for that. She had been led out to be executed much earlier than Sandro. de Livéraux, as he held the position of commander of the guard, was well aware of the routes taken by the patrols. Using this knowledge, he snuck into his chamber to retrieve his belongings, including his sword. He also couldn't resist visiting the chamber of the court wizard. By a lucky coincidence, it turned out that the mage happened to be asleep in his room. Of course, luck was not lucky for the wizard, as he was almost completely massacred by Sandro in a fit of anger. What was left of him bore little resemblance to a human being. The swordsman, after killing the sorcerer, left the castle and headed for the city. There, in turn, he enlisted to protect a ship that was leaving with an expedition to the west. He did so quickly and without thinking. The ship was rebounding before too long, and Sandro wanted to leave the city before the handbills reached him. The ship set off on a westward voyage that lasted a couple of months. Sandro rarely left the holds. One day, as he was sitting between the crates depleting the ship's grog supplies, a crewman ran below deck to announce an impending storm. The ship didn't stand the slightest chance against the elements. Sandro, battered by the crates littering the deck, lost consciousness. However, he woke up the next day in one of the barrels. When he crawled out of it he looked around in disbelief. He was on land. At last he was on the mainland. The swordsman immediately jumped out of the barrel and kissed the sandy beach, thanking the gods that this nightmarish sea voyage was finally over. As Sandro walked inland he encountered a small group of hunters with whom he got into a brief conversation. He was incredibly surprised to find himself on the island of Khorinis, as this was the first time he had heard of such an island.
